COMMUNITY OVERVIEW

Misipawistik Cree Nation (Formerly Grand Rapids First Nation in Cree language meaning “Rushing Rapids”) is a Cree speaking community population of approximately 1500 members.
Misipawistik Cree Nation (Grand Rapids) has local Businesses and Services; MCN Grocery Store and Pelican Landing Shell Station owned and operated; other local businesses; Grand Rapids Esso Bar and Restaurant, North Brook Inn, Recreation; Grand Rapids Area; E.T. Trucking Service, Grand Rapids Taxi, Grey Hound Canada, Median Credit Union, Emergency Calls Ambulance, Fire Station, RCMP.
The doors of the Misipawistik Regional Centre (University Campus) were open in July 2007 and began providing community based post secondary and adult education opportunities for its members.
